Hi everyone,
Before posting a question on BLANKSMS, SEARCH first, to see if the question/answer is already available.Just as with a Google web search, it is hugely useful to spend a few minutes becoming conversant with the ways to find what you want.
With any search, expect to try maybe 2 or 3 times, as you refine what/where you want to search. If you get too MANY results, then search again with more specific criteria. If you get too FEW (or none!) then WIDEN your scope a little.
To search just BLANKSMS (i.e. NOT the whole internet) use the SEARCH at top right of every page (Help, Search, Members, Calendar).WHERE to Search:- Either leave as the default, which is ALL Forums on BLANKSMS, or you can specify just one specific area.
WHAT to Search For:- First, to learn the syntax for this particular search engine, check
HEREHERE.
The most common one I use is "phrase".
If for example your query is about nokia problem, just entering nokia will show every post with offline in it, AND every post with messages in it.
To stop this, enter keyword as "nokia model no." (i.e. WITH the quotes).
E X A M P L E :
You want to know if particular ringtone or problem is available in downloads section.
Go to Search.
Your query is specific to ringtones only, so limit your search to "ringtone".
Start by entering keyword: status, then "Perform the Search".
Yikes, this gives about 250 hits. You CAN wade thru all these checking the topic names if you like, but better is now to search AGAIN, being more specific, so...
Try with keywords: ringtone songname.
Ahhhh! This produces a nice comfortable 7 items to look at, and a quick scroll shows 1 that sounds exactly right. So click on that title and browse the topic. smile.gif
IF that answers your question, great!
If NOT, then perhaps open a new topic and post YOUR question - but generally even better post a new REPLY in that thread, so all info about that subject remains together and easy to find for those that come later.
I hope this helps!
